2021: A Year in Review

Another year has come and gone, and while in many ways it has been a year of success through hard work, growth through competency, and delivery through determination, we would be remiss (as many in the construction sector would agree) to suggest that it has been a year without its challenges.
And yet we could not be more grateful and proud of the Rollo team who have helped make sure that 2021 is a year we will remember for good!

To document the year, we have compiled an overview of the months gone by – highlighting the things we achieved as a team, as well as the challenges we faced.
2021 was a year like no other (except perhaps 2020!), and while it may stick out in everyone’s memories as one where the months managed to simultaneously drag and fly by, it’s one we at Rollo definitely don’t want to forget.

Big things are coming for us in 2022 and we want to make sure we document the whole journey!

The Rollo team

Our team is the backbone of our business. These guys live out our values and bring their A game to work every day – making for a work culture that is both motivational and enjoyable to be a part of. We can’t thank our team enough for all their hard work this year, they have been simply incredible.

But the team has also grown substantially over the last 12 months and it has been great to see all the new members settle in and add loads of value to the business through their work ethic and inspiring outlook.
Earlier in the year we took on a new site team, where we welcomed Logan, Brandin, Pat, and Connor to the Rollo squad, and welcomed Hugh into the Timbex team.
More recently, we also welcomed Zarah into the office team as our new Operations Administrator. Keep up the amazing work guys!

In regards to our more long-standing employees, we were also delighted to see our own Stuart Davies take on the new role of Rollo’s Contracts Manager in January. Coordinated and organised, Stuart has truly excelled in this role and we’re delighted to see him take on this new position with confidence.

The challenges we faced

But as we said at the outset, this has not been a year without its challenges.

In light of the pandemic as well as Brexit, skyrocketing material costs and delayed delivery times created some of the biggest challenges we’ve faced as a company to date. The whole construction industry would have felt the pain of these unavoidable factors, as well as all the clients that had to cope with pushed back timelines and finishing dates.
But we want to send our heartfelt thanks to all of our clients this past year who were incredibly accommodating and patient with the delays that were sent their way.

Thankfully, things are looking up for the year ahead in regards to supply and demand of materials. So here’s hoping the worst is behind us!

The accreditations we achieved

Back in June of this year, we were also delighted to be awarded the internationally recognized Quality Management System (QMS) standard accreditation – ISO 9001.
This was a great achievement for the Rollo team as we strive to increasingly satisfy our clients, live out our strong corporate governance policies, and build a more resilient and sustainable business across the board.

As we embark on a new year, we are also very hopeful to achieve the SMAS Worksafe accreditation in 2022 – an award that gives main contractors a greater sense of confidence when it comes to the competence of those they choose to work with.
At Rollo Developments, we are committed to ensuring the absolute best working conditions for everyone who works under the Rollo banner – whether they are a valued Rollo employee or one of the talented architects, contractors, engineers, or designers whom we have the privilege of working with on a regular basis.

What’s next for Rollo?

We’ve already got a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for 2022 and are ready and raring to get cracking on them.

Having secured a new unit, next year we will be expanding our Timbex workshop – working with an aim to have it up and running by the turn of the year.

We have also secured a whole host of new projects for the new year and are really looking forward to working with some new clients, as well as working again with many of our existing clients!

And finally, our team’s growth is not stopping here as we plan to expand the Rollo team even more throughout 2022. Please visit our Recruitment page and fill out the fields to tell us a bit about you and what kind of role you’re looking for. Whether you’re a subcontractor or looking for an apprenticeship, we want to hear from you! Please note that our office will be closed from the 22nd of December 2021 through to the 4th of January 2022.
